Dear
I am writing to you once again seeking your support for the Church gate collection in aid of the Salesian Missions in Southern Africa. The money we collect at Church gate collections is used by Salesians to give food to families in need, support students who cannot afford school fees and help provide meals in schools for needy children. It is used to help young people in great need who need much assistance to get a good start in life.
Don Bosco started his work for poor youth in the 1840s and, thankfully, this work has spread throughout the world. Sadly, in many parts of our world youth remain neglected but, through your kind work and the generosity of many people we have been able to support and give assistance to youth from neglected areas in Southern Africa.
You and all who support this cause are participating in the Salesian Mission. Everyday Don Bosco intercedes for his workers in a very special way. Everything Don Bosco did he entrusted to Mary Help of Christians, the mother of God. You too, are entrusted to her.
The Salesians, in the daily Masses celebrated in their Communities remember their co-workers in a special way.
This year’s collection will be held on 26th/27th October in Co. Laois, and on 2nd/3rd November in Co. Offaly.
Again, many thanks for your support and all that you do to support the Salesian Missions in Southern Africa.
Yours sincerely
Bernard Fitzpatrick
